Student Enrichment Resources
The Phil Station opened in January 2020 in response to the increasing prevalence of food insecurity among college students. VHCC is a campus that cares about its students and we want to provide students with resources that will support their educational journey and remove obstacles to degree completion.
The CollegeExpress offers free transportation to and from designated stops in Bristol, VA, Washington County and Smyth County to Virginia Highlands Community College for VHCC Students.

At VHCC we know that college success isn’t limited to the classroom. That’s why we’ve partnered with Single Stop to meet your needs outside the classroom – so that you can reach your potential.
Single Stop works with students to determine the benefits they might qualify for from the government, community, and at VHCC. Students are then connected with a coach to support and guide them through applying and receiving benefits.
VHCC is proud to offer a support program for students who were formerly in foster care. The Great Expectations program offers the support and resources needed to give students who have come from difficult circumstances a hand up.
If you’re a first-generation student looking to transfer to a four-year college or university, Excel could be a great fit for you. This federally-funded program offers students the resources and support needed to successfully transfer on from VHCC to their dream college.
Accessibility Services is located in Room 124 of the Instruction and Student Center (ISC-124) and is charged with:

Providing services to allow those with disabilities to successfully transition to transfer institutions or the workforce.
These programs are designed to fit around the busy schedules of working students. Most programs have three levels that build on each other. After each level, you earn a certification or other employable skill that can lead to a job. This means students can take breaks in between trainings without losing progress along the way, most often leading to an associate degree.
