Liberty Anderson currently attends Holston High School and will graduate in May 2022. She knew early on in her high school career that she wanted to pursue a career in healthcare, and she wanted to get started as soon as possible. Liberty discovered Virginia Highlands and pursued the Nurse Aide program while she was enrolled at Holston, allowing her to learn the hands-on medical skills that she knew she would utilize for years to come.
The Nurse Aide program further fueled her desire to work in the healthcare field. Liberty continued meeting her goals to become a Registered Nurse and was able to take a Licensed Practical Nurse course through the college’s dual enrollment program. “The classes I have taken prepare me for the real world. I have learned many things that I will need for my future,” said Liberty.
Liberty has even begun to take her prerequisites for VHCC’s Registered Nurse program as dual enrollment courses, which will help her meet her high school requirements while they also prepare her to apply for the Registered Nurse program upon graduating high school. With the help of VHCC and a lot of hard work, Liberty is well on her way to becoming a trusted healthcare professional.
