Education
Ryan got a jumpstart on his college education through the Dual Enrollment Program at VHCC, earning 55 college credits before he graduated from Northwood High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from George Mason University in 2011 and a law degree from the University of Virginia in 2015.
Career
He interned for the Honorable James P. Jones of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia, worked as a summer associate at the law firm of Hogan Lovells in Washington, D.C., and externed in the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia, Criminal Appeals Division, while in law school. After graduating, he worked as a law clerk for the Honorable Norman K. Moon, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia in Lynchburg, and now is a law clerk for the Honorable Pirerre N. Leval, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York. He will soon join the firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in Washington, D.C.
Awards & Personal Life
Ryan graduated Order of the Coif, an honor society for law students, served as an article editor on the Virginia Law Review and participated in the university’s Supreme Court Litigation Clinic.. He married his high school sweetheart, Taylor Holmes, last year.
