Medical Assisting - Career Studies Certificate
Can you picture yourself working in the medical field? This hands-on program provides essential technological and practical knowledge required to perform patient clinical skills as a medical assistant in various medical office and laboratory settings. You can earn two credentials: CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant)/RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) and CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician).
Steps to Apply to the Medical Assisting Program
We’re happy to help you with your goal of Medical Assisting! Following these steps will prepare you for applying to the program.
- Apply to Virginia Highlands. Please note, admission to the college is the first of two applications. This first step does not guarantee admittance to the medical assisting program.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Need help with the FAFSA? We’re happy to walk you through the online application. Visit us in the Campus Connection Center of the ISC building or give us a call at 276-739-2438.
- The next step is to meet with a VHCC academic advisor. The advisor will review the Medical Assisting Checklist with you and will help you with all the steps, from reviewing the admissions requirements to applying to the program.
- Complete the online Medical Assisting application. (*July 15 is the early application deadline for priority admission to the program. Applications submitted after this date will be considered according to remaining seats available.)
